
LIVE theatre will return to Albury Botanic Gardens on Friday after a prolonged absence amid the coronavirus crisis.
The Other Theatre Company will present a retelling of William Shakespeare's comedy The Merchant of Venice over two weekends.
Actor Darby Quinlivan said the play got an epic, retro overhaul.
"It's set in the 1980s so it will be immediately more recognisable to the audience," he said.
"For those not around in the 1980s, they'll definitely be familiar with the pop culture references. We're drawing from the yuppy culture, particularly as told through the love story."

Quinlivan, who plays moneylender Shylock, said two dozen cast and crew had rehearsed since November.
"Due to the pandemic we've had some rehearsals in the gardens from the start," Quinlivan said.
The show runs on Friday and Saturday, 7pm to 9.30pm, and on March 5 and 6, 7pm to 9.30pm. BYO chair, blanket, picnic and alcohol.
