A girl looks at the river outside her window, imagining where it might take her.
From factories and freeways to farms and forests, Marc Martin's book A River will be brought vividly to life with a theatrical reading of the story as part of the Border's Upstream Festival.
Theatre performer and community artist Alyson Evans has created this special story time event for Wodonga Library with the help of 'awesome' Fruit Fly circus performer Emma Giasoumi, 11, and the accomplished Seth Scheuner.
Evocatively captured on camera by Helen Newman for these COVID-19 times and with an original score devised by Helena Kernaghan, Evans said she was very conscious of still delivering a theatrical event online.
"As a theatre performer you're desperate to create a work for live audiences and I think this captures the theatrical spirit: it's joyful, it's fun and the performances are incredible."
- A Theatrical Story Time with Alyson Evans will stream on the Upstream Festival's Facebook page at 10am, March 7.
