Titled Little Egret, it covers 450 square metres of previously raw brick wall in Volt Lane, Albury CBD.
Beechworth-based Henderson, who paints under the street artist name SiRHC, said up to 200 litres of paint would be rolled onto the wall to create the large-scale mural over three weeks.
"It's definitely the biggest mural I've painted so far," he said.
Albury City commissioned Henderson to paint the mural, one of five dotted around the city as part of the Upstream Festival of Art + Culture.
Having grown up at Eldorado, Henderson spent his youth playing sport and skating on the border.
"I feel comfortable painting what Albury-Wodonga feels like to me," Henderson said.
"It's based around the feeling of the sun bouncing off the hills; it features native birds."
IN OTHER NEWS:
A full-time street artist since 2017-2018, Henderson hoped that new murals in regional towns and cities would bode well for the future of street art and culture in general.
"This kind of stuff will help with a culture shift," he said.
"I had to go to Melbourne at 19 or 20 because there wasn't really a scene for this in the country."
Steering away from Realism, Henderson said he favoured Cubism and Expressionism in his playful artworks, many of them featuring native wildlife.
He said he wanted to pay his respects to the Wiradjuri First Nations People.
He painted Cocky Cubist and The Road Too in the Wall to Wall Festivals at Benalla as well as scores of works throughout the North East and Melbourne.
Upstream Festival of Art + Culture starts in Albury and Wodonga on Friday and runs until Monday.
