Edwards believes the league will band together after voting against moving to the TDFL last year.
She has taken over from AFL North East Border's Gavin Rendell and said one of her first tasks would be confronting junior numbers.
"Like all leagues we have our challenges but we are looking at things like working with the Albury-Wodonga Junior Football League in regards to permits and I think our clubs are pulling together," Edwards said.
"I've lived in the Upper Murray for most of my life and think I have strong relationships with clubs throughout the league."
Edwards is the daughter of league president Gordon Nicholas and has been a tireless worker for Corryong.
Chandan Kuilarni will take up a position with the league in coming days after relocating from Melbourne.
