Border audiology professional Kathy Currie, of Specsavers, encouraged people to ask questions to ensure they received an aid that suited their lifestyle and budget.
Research by Specsavers Audiology indicated the equivalent of 5678 Albury-Wodonga residents aged 40 and over were putting up with an unsuitable hearing aid.
"Make sure you demand to know costs upfront as you start your journey to better hearing and be comfortable you have an understanding of the product and aftercare information before purchasing your hearing aid so you can shop around or at least avoid any surprise costs if you need the support to correct later on," Ms Currie said.
