NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet to visit Albury Wodonga Health this week

Member for Albury Justin Clancy confirmed the treasurer's trip is on and coincides with a recent revelation by member for Benambra Bill Tilley that a mega merger of AWH, Wangaratta and Benalla health services was being explored.

Mr Tilley feared any feasibility study on a potential merger could result in the cross-border health service coming to an end after 12 years.

Frustration is building about the Victorian Labor government not matching the $75 million on the table from NSW for infrastructure upgrades at Albury hospital.

"We will now have had the Premier, Treasurer and Health Minister all visit within the last 12-15 months making sure we give visibility of Albury Wodonga Health to NSW," Mr Clancy said.

"From my end the critical part is getting that master-plan completed.

"I want to make sure NSW Health has an awareness of it and I've spoken to the health minister in that regard.

"He has suggested he is going to reach out to (Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley) because it's important they are talking."

Mr Clancy said he wasn't aware of a feasibility study into a mega merger of health services even though discussion on a study had been discussed at AWH board level, but not progressed any further, according to AWH chief executive Michael Kalimnios.

"The only information I have in that regard is very much as reported in the paper last week," Mr Clancy said.

"What they've said to me is what they've put out publicly and it was only there as a consideration at this stage.

"I'm not aware of anything further than that.

"If it's more advanced than what they are letting out it would be good to know from Albury Wodonga Health and Victoria where things actually lie."

AWH board chairman Matt Burke said there was no due diligence or detailed analysis being done on a mega merger of North-East health services with securing funding from the Victorian government the service's immediate focus.

"I've got no idea where all this merger stuff has come from," he said.

"There is no feasibility study. We haven't signed up to anything, there is no (memorandum of understanding), there is no nothing.

"I'm disappointed (Mr Tilley) didn't raise it with me first. I've got no idea where he got his info or intel from.

"Two or three years ago it was discussed by the board, but we said it wasn't for us."
