He posted a 36-hole score of five-over par 145 after firing 72 and 73 on successive Saturdays.
Euan Pickett, David Porter and Case Lustig were two shots back.
"Yeah, I'm pretty happy with that, I spent a lot of time there as a kid," he said.
The 32-year-old won his first title around a decade ago, but doesn't play as much now.
"Life's just busier now, I have two kids, so I do less practice, but there's also less expectation, I just enjoy it now," he offered.
"I play a bit less, but I appreciate it a bit more because I don't get up there as much."
It's obviously working as Boehm is now on his lowest handicap of plus one, a tremendous effort given how little he plays.
Like so many youngsters in the sport, Boehm used to set enormous expectations, but generally speaking they're unrealistic given the game's tricky nature.
