"It's fair to say your plea of guilty is significant on charges of this nature."
Vercoe, 44, of Sandrina Drive, Lavington, is facing sentence on domestic violence-related charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choke person without consent and stalking or intimidation.
It wasn't just his on-again, off-again partner of six years who Vercoe abused.
The court was told the words "you're a c ... " were directed also at the couple's older child, a three-year-old.
Vercoe and the woman had spent the night together at her home in Hakea Place on January 4. She woke to his threatening language the next day about 9.30am.
He attacked her by trying to choke her, with his knees on her chest.
At one point he told the victim: "Is this what you want? I am going to f ... ing kill you."
He punched her several times to the face while holding their one-year-old baby.
Vercoe got off the victim and yelled at her to look after the children.
She went into the lounge room and sat down, then he took her phone and tried to choke her again before punching her repeatedly to the head, followed by the threat: "I am going to break your throat so you can't breathe."
She walked into the kitchen then Vercoe struck her several times to the face and throat with the base of a 1.25-litre plastic bottle of orange soft drink.
This continued as she left out the front door, though she managed to call triple zero.
Police arrived and Vercoe fled, jumping several fences to make his escape. They found him hiding up a tree.
Vercoe will be sentenced on April 27.
