Reigning AWFA senior women's champions St Pats recovered from a three-goal deficit to win an entertaining season opener, 5-4, at Melrose Park on Saturday night.

Lily Godfrey put Spurs ahead in the fifth minute and two long-range strikes from Ava Tuksar made it 3-0 inside 15 minutes.
The introduction of Raq Vogel settled St Pats and they pulled two back through Isabella Barbaro, before Godfrey gave Spurs a 4-2 advantage at the break with a late goal.
A strong breeze was with St Pats in the second half and they were level with 20 to play thanks to another two goals from Barbaro.
St Pats keeper Victoria Lennon produced a top save to deny Spurs late before Tess Spry bobbed up with the winner in the 89th minute to give Patties the points.
"I said at half-time the conditions would be with us and not to panic," St Pats coach Andrew Stevens said.
"It showed good character from the girls, they could have easily gone away."

In the weekend's other game, Albury United thrashed cup champions Wangaratta 8-2 away from home.
The Greens led 2-1 at the break before a second half blitz blew Wangaratta away.
Zarlie Goldsworthy, Isabella Law and Tiana Kotzur all finished with doubles for United, while Paula Mitchell and Alannah Seary also found the back of the net.
Ruby Foottit and Bianca Mulqueen were on target for the Devils.
Boomers had the bye and will open their campaign next weekend against Albury United at Glen Park.
