The competition heavyweight won a shot at Northside in next weekend's decider on the back of a strong performance from Shannon Gould.
Ollie Cooper and Bryce Svensson were also impressive.
Sharks broke the deadlock in the dying seconds when Michael Kelly found the net after Pirates had missed an opportunity moments earlier.
Matt O'Connell was superb for Pool Pirates with youngster Will Murphy providing strong support and Steve Sloan rock solid in goals.
Sharks coach Ben Douglass said the clash could have gone either way.
"It was a very close one," Douglass said.
"We got a couple up early and they came back.
"It will be tough against Northside and they will be the red hot favourites but we will see how we go."
In women's A grade, Pirates were too strong for Albury, winning 14-8.
Annie Lefoe had a huge game for the victors while young goalkeeper Eliza Carroll showed plenty of poise under pressure.
Kate Johnson and Lucy McInnes worked hard all game for Tigers before being overran in the last quarter.
