Tim Farrah's decision to step down comes in the wake of a special board meeting held last Friday to address collaboration between Albury-Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla and Goulburn Valley health services.
"We are sad that Tim has decided to resign from the Albury Wodonga Health board," Mr Burke said in a statement.
"Tim is a long-serving board member, who has accomplished a lot over his eight years in service.
"Most notably, he has been chair of the finance committee and made extensive contributions to the community advisory committee.
"I am personally sad to see Tim resign and will miss his sound advice and acumen.
"We thank Tim for being such a fantastic Board member, and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
Mr Burke's statement didn't reveal the reasons why Mr Farrah stood down.
Mr Farrah declined to comment when contacted by The Border Mail.
A Victorian government spokesperson also side-stepped around the "formal process" the health services had agreed to take part in which could build the case for a mega merger as outlined in the parliament recently by member for Benambra Bill Tilley.
"We're not aware of any plans around a merger between Albury-Wodonga Health, North East Health and Benalla," they said.
"The Andrews Labor government continues to invest in health services across Victoria's north-east, so residents can receive the care they need close to home.
"Our hospitals and health services in Victoria's north-east have a strong history of working together to provide exceptional healthcare for the community."
.Mr Farrah is also the regional manager of the Australian Industry Group.
