Lady of the Day Bonnie Hartshorn created her entire race day outfit from op shop items.
The look, which took three weeks to put together, saw Ms Hartshorn wow judges with her keen eye.
"I just love to go op shopping and I've always been thrifty," she said.
"I just put a few things together and borrowed the broach from my mum and it all went together.
"My cousin invited me to the races so I just thought great, let's do it."
It was the Indigo Valley resident's first time entering the Albury race day competition.
She admitted she had never expected to walk away as the judges favourite.
"It was really surprising, I wasn't going to do it," she said.
"I was pushed up on stage by my husband and my cousin, so I did it."
Judges Brandi Lee, Kylie King and Meggan Garnder were impressed with all aspects Ms Hartshorn's race day attire.
Millenery Award winner Elizabeth Paterson of Griffith almost took out two categories, finishing runner-up in the Lady of the Day.
She also opted for a more creative approach with her outfit by making everything but her shoes by hand.
"It started with the fabric," she said.
"I had some feathers in my garage at home, so once I found them I made the hat.
"I love sewing and being able to express my individuality."
Ms Paterson, who works in the health field, admitted the COVID-19 pandemic hadn't left her with much spare time.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"I think my creativity was a bit suppressed, so I was coming out with a bang today," she said.
Gentleman of the Day Paul Galvin of Grong Grong used autumn as his inspiration.
"I tried to keep it a little bit earthy," he said.
"I didn't go too colourful and tried to blend earthy tones together."
Mr Galvin is no stranger to Fashions on the Field.
"I did the Black Opal two weeks ago and the tryouts were virtual," he said.
"I made the final five but didn't win. I'm back in form.
"The plan now is to go and do the four big meetings in Flemington this year.
"It's my first time at Albury, but I'll keep coming back I'm sure"
Fashions on the Field coordinator Tracey Basham said it was great to see people keen to register.
"People have dusted off their wardrobes and changed out of their activewear," she said.
"There's a good mix of styles, there was nothing that was similar."
