Mr Ogetii said being home to Bonegilla, the Border was one of the initial reception centres for migrants.

"We need to keep that history of Albury-Wodonga being an area welcoming to people for all works of life," he said.
"One of the reasons we celebrate Harmony Day is to try make real that everyone belongs, regardless of where they came from we all belong to Albury-Wodonga."
Tomorrow's event will be held online due to COVID-19 concerns and is also the first year the council has partnered with the Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation
Mr Ogetii said previous events focused on cultures brought to Australia through migration, but it was equally important to appreciate the culture of the traditional owners of the land.
