Cresswell was reported for striking Lavington's Connor Clayton during the first quarter on Sunday's reserve grade match at Lavington Sportsground.
He was booked by field umpire Daniel Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick considered the charge to be serious enough to require an independent tribunal hearing on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Wangaratta Rovers' list will be strengthened for Saturday's clash against Albury with Todd Grayson and Tom Thynne set to be available.
With the Hawks under extreme player points pressure, it remains to be seen if they will be selected in the seniors or reserves.
Albury were without injured pair Luke Daly and Dean Heta against Yarrawonga while Shaun Driscoll, Lachie Taylor-Nugent, Lucas Conlan and Zac Bye played reserves.
