Regional towns' Good Friday Appeal tallies have returned to just below pre-pandemic levels in what was nearly a record year for the fundraiser.

The tallies out of Albury and Wodonga soared from the four-digit numbers of last year - when only virtual fundraising took place - to $81,154 and $76,472 respectively.
It compares to $94,284 collected in Albury and $88,689 in Wodonga in 2019.
Good Friday Appeal executive director Rebecca Cowan said the final tally for the appeal was $17,122,879.
"We're overjoyed by the generosity of Victorian communities and beyond on this momentous 90th Good Friday Appeal," she said.
"We are humbled to see everyone come together on this day, all with the singular mission of helping The Royal Children's Hospital remain a world-class facility for the sick children of Australia.
"We understand that for many families the last 12 months have continued to be challenging."
Funds from this year's Good Friday Appeal will go towards the new statewide Virtual Care Program for a collaborative approach to care, upgraded medical imaging ultrasound machines to continue to advance patient care.
