Party officials began the preselection process for more than 20 seats across Victoria including Indi yesterday.
Among the seats where the Liberals aren't holding a preselection are Gippsland and Nicholls, which are both neighbouring electorates and held by National Party MPs, Darren Chester and Damian Drum.
But the Liberals will be contesting McEwen, another neighbouring electorate, presently held by Labor's Rob Mitchell.
IN OTHER NEWS
The call for candidates follows the recent release of the draft electorate boundaries which recommended Indi remain unchanged.
The next federal election is due to be held in 2022.
Wodonga's Steve Martin was the Liberal candidate in Indi at the last election in 2019 and narrowly missed reclaiming the seat for the Coalition.
No date has been set yet for an Indi preselection convention.
