Osborne youngster Lucy Bennett makes A-grade debut in first round win

The youngster made the step up from the under-17s to help the Tigers to a convincing 62-19 win against Brock-Burrum for the first round of the Hume Netball Association season.

"She played really solidly for her first game in A-grade," Hunter said.

Centre Georgia O'Connell put a consistent four quarter effort in, while youngster Rachel Galvin was also a standout.

The match marked Gabby O'Connell's first A-grade game since returning to the club.

Hunter said her side showed plenty of positive signs for their first game back in the Hume League.

"We played a preseason competition in Wagga for four weeks and I think that really helped to sort things out before the start of the season," she said.

"There's definitely still a bit more to work on to get familiar with each other, but it was a really good start."

After competing in the AFL Riverina Championships last year, the side has held on to league best and fairest winner Caren Hugo.

The star goal-shooter is set to be an asset for the side once again this season.

"She's chosen to stay onboard and is a huge pick up for us," Hunter said.

Defender Rachel Koschitzke was among the best for the Saints.

Jindera also stormed out of the blocks defeating Culcairn 19-78.

Other round one winners were Billabong Crows, Murray Magpies, Lockhart and Howlong.
