The premiership fancies had a bizarre opening to the match, landing a paltry 1.16 to trail Myrtleford by 10 points, despite the fact it had 10 less scoring shots.
It topped Wodonga Raiders' 1.14 against Wodonga in round four, 2019.
Admittedly, Myrtleford's defensive pressure was strong, but coach Dean Stone made no excuses.
"It was poor kicking and we probably missed six or seven shots from inside 30m," he offered.
"As the old cliche says, scoreboard pressure makes a lot of difference to the opposition and when you keep letting them in like we did, they got their tails up a little bit and we had a real contest on our hands."
There's too many behinds to list here, but shots by captain Michael Newton and Josh Porter (from 35m out in front) in the first term should have been nailed, while Matt Hedin (35m in front), Ben Speight (35m) and Joe Richards (25m on his non-preferred left) will be disappointed with those efforts.
Interestingly, it took less than a minute in the third term for the Pies to equal their bumbling first half goalkicking display.
The Pies rectified the radar in the second half, boasting a highly respectable 14.7 to coast to a 66-point win.
