North East cellar doors rate highly in Gourmet Traveller Wine awards

Campbells Wines gained Star Cellar Door status for Rutherglen in the Gourmet Traveller Wine Cellar Door awards announced recently.

Fifth-generation sisters Jane and Julie Campbell, managing director and winemaker, now lead Campbells Wines, which celebrated its 150^th anniversary last year.

All Saints Estate was named Best Large Cellar Door and Best Accommodation for Rutherglen.

All Saints Estate managing director Eliza Brown welcomed the accolades.

"After a year where touring and tasting was something we all missed, we are thrilled to be well and truly back in action, welcoming guests with open arms at our spacious cellar door," she said.

"A big thank you goes out to all our staff for their personalised service that contributed to this award."

Warribilla Wines was named Best Small Cellar Door, Pfeiffer Wines gained Best Tasting Experience and Best Additional Cellar Door Experience (True Muscat Experience) and Jones Winery scored Cellar Door with Best Food.

Pizzini Wines was rated the Star Cellar Door in the King Valley.

Founder Alfredo is still very much involved in winemaking and viticulture.

His wife, Katrina, runs the cooking school while second-generation winemaker Joel Pizzini demonstrates an intimate knowledge of the vines on his winery tours.

Chrismont Wines was named Best Large Cellar Door and Best Accommodation, Darling Estate Wines was Best Small Cellar Door, Dal Zotto Wines was Best Tasting Experience and Best Additional Cellar Door Experience (Cento Passi Experience) and Brown Brothers Milawa Vineyard scored Cellar Door with Best Food.

Billy Button Wines was rated Star Cellar Door and Best Large Cellar Door in the Alpine Valleys. Michelini Wines scored Best Small Cellar Door, Mayford the Best Tasting Experience and Gapsted Wines Cellar Door with Best Food.

Eldorado Road was Beechworth's Star Cellar Door. Indigo Valley gained Best Large Cellar Door, Haldon Estate Best Small Cellar Door, Weathercraft Wines Best Additional Cellar Door Experience and Serengale Retreat scored Cellar Door with Best Accommodation.
