Christopher Shaun Beswick previously had been warned he faced a possible jail sentence over his crimes.

But instead the now Bendigo resident has been placed on a two-year community corrections order, with a condition that he not use illicit drugs.

Albury Local Court had heard in late February that it had taken three years for a finalisation of his charges because he had been hiding from the law.

Another complication though had been the 16 months he spent behind bars in Victoria up until late 2020.

Beswick, 41, of Kennington, but formerly of Dick Road, previously pleaded guilty to break and enter dwelling in company and steal to a value not exceeding $60,000, having goods in custody suspected of being stolen.

The first charge related to an incident on March 7, 2019, where he stole a laptop computer, two computer tablets and jewellery valued at $2000 from a Lavington house.

He got in after using a jemmy bar to force open the front door.

The goods in custody charge related to police discovering tools valued at $5237 inside a shed in which Beswick was living, in the back yard of a property on Union Road.

Highway Patrol officers had gone to his home on the evening of April 15, 208, over a traffic offence.

Police also recovered $1000 in various items from a North Albury real estate agency.

Beswick was not charged over the theft of the items, which were taken during a break-in at Mercy Connect between April 13 and 15, 2018.
