Robert Chudy, 36, crashed through road works at the corner of Thurgoona's Elizabeth Mitchell Drive on January 9 just after 8pm.
When he made it on to the Hume Freeway, Albury Local Court has heard, he travelled at up to double the special slower speed limits just before the COVID-19 border checkpoint.
Chudy was eventually arrested by Wodonga police.
He will be sentenced on Monday.
