Surrey was happy to coach the Bushrangers last Saturday against Chiltern but cited business and family commitments as the major reason why he couldn't coach for the remainder of the season.
He runs his own building company.
"I coached on the weekend but I'm hoping the club can find a suitable replacement in the coming weeks," Surrey said.
"I just don't have the time to commit to coaching.
"Coaching is a big job and it's not just a matter of rocking up to training and on Saturday, there is a lot more to it.
"So the best thing for the club and the players going forward is to find somebody who has got the time.
"I believe the club is working through it and it only happened on Friday so you are not going to find a suitable replacement overnight and it takes a bit of time."

Baxter coached the Bushrangers for two matches with losses against Mitta United and Rutherglen before parting company.
They suffered their worst loss of the season so far against Chiltern on the weekend after going down by 126-points.
Surrey said the Bushrangers had sufficient numbers for seniors and reserves.
"The numbers are fairly good and the reserves won their first two matches but got a bit of a touch-up against Chiltern on the weekend," he said.
"A lot of former players came back to the club this season, so there are quite a few older blokes running around in the reserves."
Beechworth face Dederang Mt Beauty on Saturday.
