Albury and Wangaratta's highly-anticipated round five clash at Albury Sportsground will remain a twilight fixture on Saturday.
Discussions had taken place about the possibility of the game being shifted back to a traditional Saturday afternoon time slot, with cooler conditions at night a potential turn off for spectators as winter approaches.
Wangaratta co-president Col McClounan would have preferred a day fixture and said he would be happy with a mid-April cut-off for night games.
"By the time you finish it's 8.30-9pm and you can't really do anything around the club," McClounan said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"The other club is pretty keen to get out the door and you don't blame them for that.
"There's no guarantees any time, but this weekend will probably work out okay given the weather forecast."
Wodonga and North Albury's clash at John Flower Oval was due to be played under lights, but has been changed to a 2pm start.
Albury was contacted for comment.
