A number of former Lavington committee members and players have leased rising three-year-old filly Media Award and 2019 premiership player Adam Flagg and a handful of reserve graders travelled to Adelaide's Morphettville track on Saturday for the race.
And in one of the great sporting thrills for the group, the outsider ($61) posted a riveting half-length win in its Group One debut.
It was a bizarre atmosphere immediately after the $500,000 Australasian Oaks and Corowa-Rutherglen's shock 19-point win at home.
The Roos had just finished belting out their team song, when Lavington people stated celebrating the horse's win next door.
"It's massive, for part-time punters who do it more for connection, to have a Group One winner is amazing," Sanson said.
