The Pies were tipped in some circles as being capable of an undefeated season, but have already suffered losses to Wangaratta Rovers and Albury.
"I think we're still getting a feel for each other, we need a few more weeks to gel together and hopefully we start hitting our straps," he said.
The club has the nucleus of its triple grand final side, but there's been profile arrivals in Ben Reid, Callum Moore and Abraham Ankers.
The Pies fell to Albury by 12 points, but welcome back Matt Kelly (concussion) and Jessie Smith (ill), although there's no sign of Reid, who rolled an ankle on April 18.
However, some clubs have used the North Albury game to rest players because, sadly, it's an easy win.
