Sachin Dagar was reported to police after "yelling out and acting in a disruptive and disorderly manner" at an Albury motel.
Police arrived just before midnight on April 18 to find Dagar standing on the footpath in front of the Clifton Motel talking to the owners.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It was clear to police that Dagar had been drinking, and they also quickly deduced that he had driven to the location.
"He was slurring his words, unsteady on his feet, his breath smelt of intoxicating liquor, his eyes were glazed and red," police have told Albury Local Court registrar Wendy Howard, in an outline of the case.
Dagar, 35, pleaded guilty to a single charge of driving with a high-range prescribed concentration of alcohol.
He was not in court and had the plea entered by solicitor Angus Lingham, on behalf of defence lawyer Mark Cronin.
The court was told how Dagar was driving his car on Smollett Street, Albury, about 11.35pm when he entered the motel driveway.
He pulled into a parking space, got out of his car and began acting strangely.
His yelling alerted the motel's owners, who immediately phoned Albury police.
They got there about 11.45pm. After suspecting him of drink-driving, the officers submitted Dagar to a preliminary breath test.
But Dagar took several attempts to do the test as police said he was "unable to follow directions".
He eventually completed the test, providing a positive reading that resulted in his arrest.
A breath analysis test at the Albury police station at 12.46am produced a reading of 0.173.
Dagar will be sentenced on Monday.
