The pub was among many across rural NSW which closed in the lead-up to the 2000 Sydney Olympics and had their licences sold.
Brocklesby residents successfully lobbied Greater Hume Shire to acquire the building with the aim of obtaining a community hotel licence.
The council bought the pub in the Olympics year for $30,000 and Brocklesby Community Inc. was established to run the hotel.
The town's post office-store closed several years ago and support for the hotel has similarly waned, with the recent re-opening of the Balldale Hotel having an impact on trade.
Patronage has also suffered from a recent completion of a multi-function facility at the Brocklesby Recreation Reserve.

This week Greater Hume Shire will consider the pub's future.
Brocklesby Community Inc. is reviewing its long-term future operating from the hotel and has sought a commitment from the council that if the property was sold, proceeds would be quarantined for use within the Brocklesby community.
In a report prepared for the council meeting, general manager Steve Pinnuck said precedents of such a move did exist.
"The potential disposal of an ageing building and the reinvestment of those funds in the community is an appropriate course of action without negatively impacting on the budgetary position of council," he said.
"It is the author's view that there has been a number of precedents where this has occurred with the disposal of other assets and given the value of the asset is directly correlated with the management of the facility by Brocklesby Community Inc. over the past 21 years, seems a reasonable request."
Discussions have also been held about whether the existing licence can transferred to another group such as the Brock-Burrum Football-Netball Club if the pub building sale went ahead.
