Holbrook's big number 10 emerged from the main break like a steam train and simply didn't look like missing.

Gestier was a ball magnet among Culcairn's defenders, who were left chasing shadows as the former Lavington man wreaked havoc.

He ended up booting 11 majors - all at the same end of the ground.

"Goal kicking's very hard," Gestier said.

"If you kick the first couple or miss the first couple, it can go one way or the other.

"I changed up the boots at half-time and got my mojo back.

"It's always good to get some reward for your work but it's more about the blokes up the field. They're the ones getting me the footy.

"The delivery was fantastic and I just had to finish off. I was the lucky bloke.

"I've kicked a few before but that's definitely up there."

After a season at Wagga Tigers, Gestier has reunited with Matt Sharp at Holbrook and the coach is thrilled to have him on board.

"At Holbrook, we don't produce too much height so to have that tall option and have a tall option in the ruck and down back, it's been great," Sharp said.

"Luke had a bit of a setback with his body but to his credit, he's really bought into the club culture and he's helping on game days even when he's injured.

"He's helping at training with our forwards and he's been a really good asset.

"He's not just someone who turns up and nicks off, he actually puts time and effort into the players."

Gestier had missed Holbrook's previous three games with a hamstring problem, including the defeat to premiership favourite Osborne.

But he showed no ill-effects during the 118-point victory over Culcairn on Saturday.

"They're an arch-rival so it was great to get the win," Gestier said.

"I'm in my first year but I've already grasped that rivalry.

"We're 6-1 and we're building nicely into the middle part of the year.

"I'm sure we're going to go through some ups and downs but if we can keep our list together, stay fit and healthy and work hard, I think we can be there at the crunch end."

The conveyor belt of young talent keeps rolling at Holbrook, with Sam Joyce making his senior debut on Saturday and kicking a goal in the final quarter.

Once again, Coby Ross and Corey McCarthy were among the Brookers' best while Ewan Mackinlay booted another four goals.

"Holbrook just keeps producing great kids," Sharp said.

"They've got a good system and we've got some depth this year that we haven't had before.

"The likes of Sam Joyce might have (easily) got a game before but now he's having to work harder and that holds those guys in good stead.

"They know they've got to play well in twos to come up and play ones and they know they're coming up to ones not as a number but they've earned their spot. They're showing what they can do with their form and kicking a couple of goals."

The Hume league has a general bye this weekend so Holbrook's next game will be at home to Jindera on June 5.

Sharp's side head into the break second on the ladder, with only unbeaten Osborne ahead of them after seven rounds.

Few would bet against the Tigers at this stage and there is plenty of respect from their closest rival.

"They're obviously the benchmark," Sharp said. "They've got a system and they know how it works.

"They've played with each other for a long time. We've played with each other for a couple of years but we're adding new people so we're just finding that chemistry.

"We're not getting ahead of ourselves. We'll just take it week by week."
