A COVID-19 concerns notice is in effect meaning those who have been in areas of risk must fill out a declaration.
"The response from NSW Health is very proportionate to the risk at the moment," Ms Berejiklian said.
"The Victorian situation is evolving to the extent that I would expect perhaps they would have something further to say today or tomorrow.
"Remember, if there are those links established with that South Australian traveller who went to Melbourne, that happened some weeks ago.
"Of course, what's happening in Victoria is evolving and we'll respond accordingly, but can I just say, I think we've been very clear on our position in relation to borders."
Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant urged those who returned from Victoria to keep checking the exposure sites on the Victorian coronavirus website.
"We are dealing with an evolving situation," she said.
"It's critical at this time that you complete those declaration forms if you've come in from greater Melbourne and we may be extending that as the situation evolves to other parts of Victoria.
"If you have the most minimal of symptoms ... please get tested."
Dr Chant said those who had been in Greater Melbourne and Bendigo were being asked not to attend aged care facilities.
