
A former Indigo Shire chief executive is being remembered as a man of integrity following his death.
Gerry Smith died on Saturday morning after a battle with cancer.
Mayor Jenny O'Connor gave her condolences to Mr Smith's friends and family.
"On behalf of councillors, the executive management team and all staff, we are all shocked and saddened at the news of Gerry's passing following a battle with cancer," she said.

"During his time at Indigo Shire from 2014 to 2017, he was instrumental in improving governance, systems and processes.
"But among his greatest achievements was the securing of a $5.2M government grant to build the Beechworth to Osbornes Flat Rail Trail.
"Gerry was a great advocate for Indigo Shire and its people, and his legacy will be long remembered and appreciated."
