Albury Local Court previously heard that the crime, plus another committed by Angela Pressnell, was directly linked to her habit.
Pressnell has already spent almost five months in jail, bail refused, since her arrest.
IN OTHER NEWS:
She will remain there until she now becomes eligible for parole on June 27.
Magistrate Richard Funston has told the 28-year-old that her offending was such that he had no choice but to impose a 10-month, full-time prison sentence.
"But I'm going to show a fair bit of light at the end of the tunnel, if I can call it that," he said, referring to the five-month non-parole period.
Mr Funston said Pressnell's chronic illicit drug habit and her efforts to kick her addiction loomed large.
"It's still a complex issue; you've got to keep on working on that," he said.
"You've got to get all those (rehabilitation) referrals sorted before you get out of jail."
The first break-in was on a house in Macauley Street, Albury, in early September.
Pressnell stole goods valued at $500, including a red suitcase, a Gladstone bag, "Jeff Fenech" boxing gloves and clippers.
She left behind an empty plastic drug bag on a chair from which police were able to take a swab that was found to contain her DNA.
The second break-in was at a residence in Roper Street on January 8.
The victim had just arrived home when she saw Pressnell run out the back door, then across the front lawn to a waiting car.
But as she did so, Pressnell dropped several items including an oil lamp on which her fingerprints were found.
Many of the items from the Roper Street burglary were later recovered from a storage facility leased by the woman who drove Pressnell away from the scene.
That other woman allowed police to search the lock-up.
Also dropped by Pressnell was a mirror, part of a $6760 haul that included a range of expensive crystal objects, including vases, and an antique clock.
Pressnell previously pleaded guilty in court, via a video link to jail, to numerous charges, including break and enter house and steal and possess a prohibited drug.
Defence lawyer Mitchell Irwin said Pressnell had shown "great insight" and "she wants to get away from the crowd that has been the bad influence".
