When Wangaratta Rovers jumped out to a 20-point lead early in the second quarter against Wodonga Raiders, the home team needed a spark.
And Declan Evertt did just that - twice in a minute.
He lined up a shot from 45m and just 10m from the boundary, right in front of Raiders' parochial supporters in the clubroom.
The 20-year-old nailed the shot in one of the best moments of his rapidly improving career.
"It was pretty cool, a lot of the boys from the 2's (reserves) were up in the stands, they had a function, so when I kicked it, I made sure I looked them in the eye and they got around it," he recalled.
He was soon the same distance from the boundary, but 30m out, when he weaved through and nailed a 'banana'.
"It was probably the perfect pocket to kick a good snag on," Everett revealed.
