Originally scheduled for June 2020, the aptly-named The Never Starting Story will run at Albury Entertainment Centre on Friday and Saturday.
Albury Gang Show spokesman Harley Maclachlan said technically the annual variety show put on by Scouts and Guides was two years in the making.
He said the original story had been adapted for a slightly different cast this year.
"It's two years in the making; we had to fill some new roles from last year and re-sew some of the costumes," he said.
Mr Maclachlan, who is the assistant production director and plays Dad in the show, said they only lost a couple of rehearsals owing to coronavirus restrictions this year.
The cast of 45, aged from 10 to 46, and the 25 crew lived on both sides of the border.
"We had to cancel a couple of rehearsals because it was too challenging with half the cast in Victoria and half in NSW," Mr Maclachlan said.
"But we've made it up and the kids are ready for the stage now."
N OTHER NEWS:
Part of the Albury Gang Show for a decade and the Central Coast Gang Show before that, Mr Maclachlan said the annual variety show was phenomenal for Scouts and Guides.
Having started in the Albury show cast aged 16, Mr Maclachlan moved into production roles.
"Everyone knows Scouts is about camping and canoeing but there's this whole other side to it in the performing arts," he said.
"It's very satisfying to see kids who may be quite shy stand up on stage and deliver their lines with confidence."
Family-friendly, The Never Starting Story runs on Friday night at 7.30pm and Saturday at 1.30pm and 7.30pm.
