The Roos have released architect's drawings of the plans, which include netball change rooms, first aid facilities, umpire's rooms, a gym, office, toilets, a large social room with an incorporated children's area, new canteen and bar plus extensive covered outdoor areas.

It's a project which would transform the club and president Andrew Lawson admits it's long overdue.

"We did a lot of work during the 2020 lockdown to develop concept plans for new facilities, in particular female facilities, to assist in promoting female sport a bit more and get some female football happening," Mr Lawson said.

"We've got that to a stage where we're working with council, trying to secure grant funding to make it happen.

"It's a significant amount of money, somewhere around $3.5 million, but we want to continue to try to secure that, whether it be all in one go or staged, to improve the facilities for our players and members and certainly the community.

"The idea around some of this open space that we're trying to achieve is so the community can come down and use it for different events.

"It'll be a community facility, not just football and netball.

"You've only got to look at the current facilities and the way things have been continually tacked on over the years.

"They're very much out-dated and in need of great change."

The social room would be the largest feature of the development, at 202 square metres, while the two largest change rooms - either side of the gym - would be around 50 square metres each.

"Even for the other team and getting their supporters down here, to be able to have the facilities and showcase what we've got, it would be enormous," Mr Lawson said.

"Hopefully we can work with council to secure a significant grant so we can make things happen.

"That's the ultimate plan, so we can try to improve our facilities for all our members."

Yackandandah had new netball courts constructed last year at a cost of $250,000 which included a $100,000 contribution from Sport and Recreation Victoria.

That project also included a lighting upgrade which has doubled the Roos' capacity to train and play at night.
