Committee interim chair Vicki Schuur said the group's purpose would be to advance the interests of Holbrook and the district.
"Getting people together was not hard at all, we had floods of people coming in the gates," she said.
"At the start of the meeting we had about 28 interested members come together, now it's probably about 20 business owners and there's also some local volunteers, who want to help and be a member of this committee to help put Holbrook on the map."
She said the committee would support local businesses and the community.
"It's to be able to liaise back to Greater Hume Council in regards to anything that we would like to do in tourism or a funding," she said.
"It's just for local business owners to be able to come together and bounce ideas off each other."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Holbrook business owner of two years Kayleen Laffan said she was keen to join the group.
"I could see the potential in Holbrook," she said.
"We've got some really great minds and some really great businesses in town, so I just thought it would be really great to bring everybody together."
Ms Laffan said she wanted to join the group to get the skills and resources to run more events to economically support the town and create community spirit.
"We had a market at one stage, a hand-made market, which went really well," she said.
"We haven't got anything in mind at the moment, but that's the sort of thing I'd like to see happen, festivals and different things that bring people to Holbrook.
"They're looking at sort of master plan-type stuff, so we've got a vision, and a collective vision, of what we'd like to see for the town."
Albury Business Connect will conduct a meeting with the group on July 5 to discuss how it could operate.
The group hopes to officially form into a committee at a meeting on August 2.
In a report prepared for Greater Hume Council, general manager Steven Pinnuck wrote that council has been trying to establish a Holbrook community based committee for several years.
Mr Pinnuck said he was confident the group would be a valuable resource to the council and the Holbrook and district community.
