Beau Sikorski was at home with his family on May 7 when his father told him he could have a couple of drinks while watching football on the TV.
He soon became seriously drunk, Albury Local Court has heard, downing beer, cans of mixed spirits and three-quarters of a bottle of vodka.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Sikorski became so loud he woke his father, who told him to come inside the family's Macarthur Street home and go to bed.
"I'm not going inside, I want to kill somebody, I'm going to slit someone's throat," he told his father.
The court has heard this behaviour got even worse, to the point that, as police arrived, Sikorski had grabbed a large knife with a 20-centimetre blade.
He placed the knife down the side of his throat, then made his way towards the front door after placing it under the waistband of his pants.
The 25-year-old then pulled the knife out, but before he had the chance to do anything his father came up behind him and grabbed the knife out of his hand.
Sikorski, appearing in court before magistrate Richard Funston, pleaded guilty to intimidation, destroying or damaging property and resisting police.
Police said Sikorski quickly became intoxicated while drinking with his cousins and his sister's adult friends.
When they left about 9.30pm, Sikorski went outside and told his sister he had skolled the bottle of vodka - just 150 millilitres of the 750-millilitre bottle remained.
He kept drinking and then made his kill threat after his father told him go to bed.
But his father didn't take the threat seriously, telling him: "Don't be silly, just get inside."
At one point Sikorski said "I've had enough of this sh*t" then took hold of his bedroom door with both hands and tore the door off its hinges.
Sikorski will be sentenced on August 2.
