North Griffith home destroyed in midnight house fire

At 11:02pm on Wednesday, emergency services were flooded with reports of a house fire on McNabb Crescent in North Griffith.

Griffith Fire and Rescue NSW [FRNSW] crews attended the scene, where they found the dwelling "well alight" and already significantly destroyed.

The responders conducted search and rescue throughout the building but fortunately it was unoccupied at the time.

Fire crews then spent the next 15 minutes extinguishing the blaze, however the building was almost completely destroyed by the time the fire was put out.

Griffith FRNSW captain Danielle McKay said the home's windows were boarded up and she believed it had recently been vacated.

Ms McKay said it was not clear how or where the fire started.

Police are investigating the incident.
