Parnell was selected by Adelaide in last month's AFL mid-season rookie draft and the club presented the opportunity to Hallows, a winger and half-forward at his home club Lavington, to use his skill set off half-back.
"I've been playing more on the wing for Lavi than previous years and I started the year at the Bushies in the middle," Hallows said.
"It's definitely different, but I enjoy it. It's good running off half-back.
"It's been good to work on my game and develop new skills in those positions."
