Wodonga police officers are door-knocking residents whose cars look to be unsecured to address increasing theft reports.
As part of Operation SAFECAR, officers are concentrating patrols in areas of concern.
They are leaving flyers in letterboxes and even door-knocking when they find obvious signs of vehicles or property not appropriately secured.
The majority of cars had been left unlocked, with offenders targeting a large number of door handles to see if the cars are open.
Cash was the main target in the thefts.
If you have information on thefts from motor vehicles, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
