Lane says the entry into the forward 50m arc has cruelled chances to win more than the four games.
"It's been frustrating, we've been letting ourselves down by not taking our opportunities," he suggested.
"Obviously it was pretty important to get a win last week, but we've let other games slip, so it doesn't make up for them."
The Roos' broke a five-match losing streak against North Albury in round 11, with three of those losses by less than three goals, including Yarrawonga (six points) and Myrtleford (13).
The club faces a monumental task at home to Wangaratta today, with the Pies welcoming back gun on-baller Abraham Ankers after he was unavailable through COVID restrictions.
It will be a massive test for Roos' youngster Cam Wilson.
