Police have unveiled two new vehicles featuring detailed works of art in a state first.

Officers in the Wodonga region have started using the two new cars, which are covered in Indigenous artwork by Border artist David Dunn.
The graphics depict the Murray River, local lands and animals, and police and the Aboriginal community working together.
Superintendent Joy Arbuthnot said the car was symbolic of the relationship between police and Indigenous people.

"We do have a strong partnership with the community," she said.
"We're intent on making a difference for Aboriginal people with a particular focus on preventing them entering the criminal justice system."
The cars were unveiled at a ceremony on Thursday.
Police are also preparing to launch a new diversion program for Aboriginal offenders.
