McDougall is locked in a titanic battle with Western Australian hoop Chris Parnham with less than a fortnight to go in the season.
Victories aboard Miss Baltimore and Legal Challenge at Nowra propelled McDougall to a two win lead over Parnham.
The in-form hoop also had a productive weekend with a winner at Goulburn on Saturday and another winner at the Narrandera Cup meeting the following day.
McDougall now sits on 193 winners for the season which includes two dead heats with Parnham on 191.
Parnham will have two opportunities to narrow the gap at Belmont on Wednesday and Pinjarra the following day.
McDougall will have to cool his heels until Friday's meeting at Canberra.
"It's a pretty quiet week and there is just nothing on," McDougall told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
"I will take some decent time off when these borders open up but for now I am just trying to go around."
Western Australia wizard William Pike has had a stranglehold on the national jockeys title in recent seasons.
He has won the title for the past five seasons.
McDougall has an unassailable lead in the both NSW statewide and country jockey premierships.
He also became the first jockey to ride more than 100 winners in the Southern Districts in recent memory.
Blake Shinn was the last NSW jockey to win the national title in 2014/15.
