Nathan Tanner and another person twice targeted a rural property at Stanley during planned burglaries.
The pair went to the area looking for properties to break into on April 7 and 8 in 2019.
Tanner wore gloves as he entered a machinery shed at one property and stole a spanner set worth $100.
While there, the pair identified other items of interest and decided to return at a later date.
They again come back to the Hurdle Flat Road property in the early hours of April 11, this time with a trailer.
They parked in a chestnut plantation, cut a padlock to get through a gate and went back into the shed.
They took two Yamaha motorbikes worth about $15,000, and later changed the appearance of both before selling them for $2900.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The bikes were recovered in mid-July of that year and Tanner was taken into custody at Tallangatta the following month.
He told police he was "highly consumed by ice" at the time of the offending.
He must be resentenced after failing to complete the corrections order originally imposed.
Lawyer Sally Wilson said the Tangambalanga man was struggling with mental health issues during the order.
Magistrate Ian Watkins told the Wodonga court he wasn't comfortable imposing a lesser sentence.
Tanner appeared on a video link due to COVID restrictions, and Mr Watkins said he would need to appear in court in person when the matter returns on August 17.
