Now the team has booked themselves a spot in the prelims.
The Rovers defeated Murray Felines by 70 points at Lavington Sports Ground, booting six goals in the first quarter to establish their lead.
"They were pretty pumped up," Hawks' coach Rick Marklew said.
"We had six or seven of the original girls from 2017 who played in their first final.
"They knew finals are a bit quicker, faster and tougher, but it was a beautiful day in Lavington.
"Our first quarter was probably the best quarter we've played all year."
Mikaela Trethowan was best on for the victors, while Dakota Mcaliece kicked four goals.
Kylie Barton and Emma Gosbell also fought hard for the win.
"It was a really good team effort and everyone made a contribution," Marklew said.
He admitted the lead up to finals hadn't been smooth sailing for the Victorian-based team, who wasn't able to train together whilst in the state's recent two-week lockdown.
"We had one training session during the week, but it's been a bit stop-start," Marklew said.
"It's been tough times but it's good to be out having a kick."
Sinead Lang kicked Murray Felines' only goal, while Kaitlyn Robinson was among the best.

Ladder leaders Wodonga Raiders were stunned in the qualifying final as Lavington guaranteed themselves a spot in the decider.
The Panthers 10-point win marked the Raiders first loss of the season.
Zarlie Goldsworthy was best for the victors with three goals, while Sallie Findlay was good for the Wodonga side.
The Raiders have another chance to keep their premiership dream alive when they meet the Rovers next weekend.
"I think Raiders are the team to beat," Marklew said.
"They have proven that all year after finishing the season on top."
