The change was approved on Thursday night, with teams now allowed to make five changes per match instead of three.
"Due to the number of rounds the Victorian clubs are missing, when they can't train, we're going to allow five subs for the rest of the home-and-away season only to help reduce soft tissue injuries," AWFA president Mark Leman said.
This weekend's round has been cancelled after Victoria entered another seven-day lockdown.

If restrictions end on Thursday night, as planned, leaders Albury United will resume their championship tilt with a trip to Cobram on August 15.
Second-placed Wangaratta, whose game in hand against Twin City has yet to be rescheduled, are due to visit Melrose that day.
AWFA's FA Cup finals are scheduled for Wednesday, August 18.
