A Western Australian buyer who had never inspected the property out bid a Sydney-based rival in the same predicament at an auction for a four-bedroom home in Wodonga on Saturday.

Both parties banked on feedback from family living locally before duelling for the home in McGrath Court, Willow Rise, which eventually sold for $621,500.
Agents P.J. Murphy Real Estate was again forced to switch to an online-only selling platform after Victoria plunged into another COVID-19 lockdown late last week.
"It's very, very weird that you have two bidders you've never met," agent Leon Kowski said.
"It was just above the bidding guide and a little bit beyond the reserve.
"It is a great area of town."
The McGrath Court home, which overlooks parks and walking tracks, last sold in 1988 for just $163,000.
Another feature of the home is a pool.

Meanwhile, a five-bedroom home in Brockley Street was due to also be auctioned on Saturday, but sold beforehand for $820,000.
It was among the highest prices paid for a home in central Wodonga this year, with another home on the corner of Stanley and Murphy streets selling recently for a price in the mid-$800,000s.
Another in Lawrence Street sold this year for just above $800,000.
Real estate watchers are eagerly awaiting the outcome of another property at the eastern end of Lawrence Street going under the hammer later this month for agents Wodonga Real Estate.
The recent red hot Albury property market had a breather on Saturday, with a two-bedroom townhouse being passed in at auction for $430,000.
That Olive Street auction was conducted by agents Stean Nicholls.
