Albury Wodonga Health stopped using the helipad in April 2020 for safety reasons around its proximity to the emergency department's COVID-19 triage marquee.
"Patients still have access to air transfers via fixed wing aircraft and helicopters operating from Albury Airport, which is less than one minute from Albury Base Hospital by ambulance," chief operating officer Emma Poland said.
"Albury Wodonga Health is actively working with NSW Ambulance and Ambulance Victoria to manage this change and ensure ongoing patient safety.
"On-site helipad operations will recommence in the future, however we don't have a confirmed date."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Ambulance Victoria acting manager air operations Brad Martin said its operations were not being impacted by flights landing at Albury Airport.
"Ambulance Victoria has contingencies in place for all helipads when they are unavailable or when pilots cannot land due to safety reasons including bad weather and strong winds," he said.
"In such instances, helicopters land at the nearest suitable landing site.
"After landing, patients remain in the care of paramedics as they are safely taken by road the short journey to hospital.
"The safety of our patients, paramedics, flight crew and the community is paramount at all times."
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said his organisation had been working closely with the local health district.
"It is common practice to have alternative landing locations available and this was selected to ensure continued patient and aircrew safety," he said.
"Our focus is always on maintaining patient safety and the processes in place are working well."
