Porter will play his 297th game away to Yarrawonga on Saturday and while there's the two regular season games left, plus a four-week finals campaign, it's impossible to feel confident of anything in the current environment.
"It would mean a heap, although I never set myself the goal of playing 300," the 35-year-old suggested.
"I thought I would have done it by now, but COVID got in the way."
Porter 'retired' from the O and M after the club's 2017 premiership, spending the next season with Tarrawingee in the Ovens and King before returning to his beloved 'Pies.
If there's no further interruption, Porter could reach the mark in a grand final qualifier against Albury.

In 2019, Porter played as a forward, but the three-time best and fairest has turned back the clock to return to the midfield this year.
