Terlich finished the season with 58 goals from 13 matches to average almost 4.5 goals a game.
Luke Gestier finished runner-up after booting 12 goals against the Murray Magpies on the weekend to take his tally to 56.
Gestier finished with a slightly higher average after playing 12 matches.
Teammate Ewan Mackinlay (52) and Brock-Burrum spearhead Damian Cupido (51) were the only other players to boot more than 50 goals for the season.
Terlich, 31, said it was an 'unexpected bonus' to win the title in the twilight of his career.
"It's probably fair to say it's a bit of an unexpected bonus to win the award," Terlich said.
"I kicked 70 goals as a 17-year-old in 2007 in my first year of senior football which has been my biggest haul.
"But I've spent most of my career at Henty playing centre half-forward because we have had some exceptional full-forwards in Damian Cupido, James Breen and Ryan Hon.
"So I've probably played a lot deeper in attack this year than I have for a long time which makes a difference.
"Being that bit older, I also try to make the most of every opportunity as well."
Terlich booted 11 goals in round 8 which is the second biggest haul of his career.
"My biggest bag is 13 against Brocklesby in 2007," he said.
"Dad (Neil) kicked seven in the reserves.
"The week before I kicked 11 and dad kicked nine so we kicked 40 goals between us in a fortnight."

Henty snatched an unlikely finals berth on the weekend after Howlong were able to defeat Lockhart.
Terlich felt the Swampies deserved a spot in finals.
They dropped two matches after they were severely depleted by the Victorian lockdown.
"It's been a rollercoaster and no disrespect to Lockhart but in my opinion I feel we deserve to play finals," he said.
"Fingers crossed the league can get through a finals series now after getting this far."
