The latest figure of 830 is five more than the number recorded and follows a record number of 206,000 who were tested in the previous 24 hours.
There are 557 people in NSW hospitals with COVID-19, 94 in intensive care and 31 on ventilators.
Three more deaths were recorded in the state.
The regional NSW lockdown remains in place.
A third of the eligible population of NSW has been fully vaccinated.
There were 19 cases reported in the ACT in the past 24 hours.
EARLIER: Victoria has recorded a further 65 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and an additional infection from overseas as the state fights off a third wave resulting from the highly contagious Delta variant.
A total of 26,149 vaccine doses were administered in Victoria and 44,147 test results received.
The overseas acquired case is in hotel quarantine.
Of the 65 local cases, 55 are linked to current outbreaks including Shepparton and 10 are under investigation.
Victoria is dealing with 440 active cases presently.
Health Minister Martin Foley confirmed a case had been recorded in Mansfield stemming from the Shepparton outbreak.
The case is not recorded in today's figures.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Scott Morrison was asked on ABC program Insiders whether Australia would get to COVID zero.
"I think that's highly unlikely, but that's really not the point," he said.
"At 70 and 80 per cent vaccination rates then Australia is able to move out of what is really an unsustainable situation.
"You can't live with lockdowns forever and at some point you need to make that gear change."
